Welcome to The Barnchive.
The Barnchive is a digitally photographic archive of barns in the Peoria, IL metro area. Each barn featured is unique in its own way, be it historically, architecturally, locally, or otherwise. Much of the uniqueness and historical significance of a barn is lost through time, or is simply known only to the owners and their families. This is an effort to share the significance with a mass audience that would have no other way to explore or visit the structures archived herein.
This archive is a collaborative effort of six students majoring in Bradley University’s Multimedia program. The senior-level class, Multimedia 450 – The Theory and Practice of Building Digital Archives, gives students an in-depth look at the theories and procedures that go into producing an online, digital archive. The second half of the class focused on taking these newly learned ideas and translating them into practice; creating an archive of our own.
